I'm planning to put on 700c wheels (Mavic/Shimano) so I can get back to the high mileage while waiting for a windfall to put me on something new. By the way, everybody, I'm always curious about what my Readers Ride. After I get this blog thing figured out a little better I would like to maybe feature you guys and your bikes. Stumbled onto your blog from OTSG and really love your writing - keep it up. I had a thought on your rear wheel issue, there are lots of old bike boom era bikes languishing unappreciated and for much less than $55 you might score a entire bike! (as you did with the SLT) which is then a parts bin/spare ride. I have been reading a blog by a guy in Canada who is a vintage 10 speed collector and he has many ways of finding old bikes for a pittance. Anyway just a thought- his site is http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_1/FREE_SITE_INTRODUCTION.htm.

Slow or fast keep on riding and Smiling man.

Ryan "closer to 50 than 40" in West SeattleRoadieRyanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15900109046198641775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3267224089554889479.post-64735372042763340062011-05-18T17:36:38.040-07:002011-05-18T17:36:38.040-07:00Thanks, guys. In 2004 I was in Williamsburg doing an extensive remodel at Kingsmill/Busch Gardens and got to check out that whole James River, Newport News, VB area. Sadly, that was before I was a Real Cyclist so now I have to someday go back and Do It On Two Wheels.

Hey Scream: How did that cayenne pepper thing work out? The all looked so SERIOUS. The more they ignored her, the more cheery she became. She eventually got so in-your-face-happy looking that someone finally gave in, flipped us a wave and said good morning. I think they thought she was dangerous and only smiled hoping she'd go away without hurting them. She was mightily entertained...Wayward Sonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10047261638209232831noreply@blogger.com
